The MOPA Airport in Goa, which had already started operations, continues to boost connectivity across the country. In the latest development, the Manohar International Airport would be connecting 8 more cities. The MOPA airport in Goa is the second airport in the city, which has been made operational to strengthen connectivity in the domestic as well as international circuit.
Currently, the new airport directly connects 21 cities across the country through flights, as per the GMR of Goa International Airport.
Indigo has added flights to the schedule that would operate through the MOPA Airport. These flights connect the city to other places across India like Coimbatore, Bhubaneswar, Amritsar, Ranchi, Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, and Rajkot. On the other hand, there is a Direct flight of Vistara to Lucknow.
The MOPA Airport started its operations on January 5th and offers direct flights to the key metros across the country. As a result, Goa has been directly connected to cities like Chandigarh, Varanasi, Nagpur, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Delhi, Chennai, Jaipur, Nashik, Pune, Kolkata, and Mumbai. In addition to these cities, the new direct connectivity routes from Goa to the other cities.
The Chief Executive Officer of GGIAL expressed their happiness over the success. With eight new cities connected to Goa through direct flights, the summer season would draw more tourists. Besides, he also expressed the desire to further connect other cities through direct flights to Goa. In case you didn’t know, GGIAL is one of the subsidiaries of GMR Airports. It was on March 26 that the summer flight schedule started here. The MOPA Airport, in the next three months, handled lakhs of passengers. As many as 5000 arrivals and departures took place through the MOPA Airport. The summer schedule is set to continue till the fourth week of October. Following this, the winter schedule at the airport is scheduled to begin.
The development of the MOPA airport has significantly strengthened connectivity in the country. This project has also fuelled the demand for homes in the locality.
